Questions people ask
What is Chandrashtama?
Chandrashtama is the two to two-and-a-half days each month when the Moon passes through the 8th sign from your birth Moon sign. Almanacs mark it against your name as a time to avoid starting anything important; it comes round once in about 27 days.
How do I know my Chandrashtama days?
Find your birth Moon sign (Janma Rashi) in the table on this page: the dates beside it are your Chandrashtama days. Your Moon sign comes from your birth details — the birth star page in the app works it out, and the Horoscope tab flags the day for you.
What should I avoid during Chandrashtama?
New beginnings — signing, travelling for something important, starting a job or a ceremony. Routine work carries on. Many families also keep quiet in arguments on these days, as the Moon governs the mind.
Why does Chandrashtama start in the middle of a day?
It begins at the moment the Moon enters your 8th sign and ends when it leaves, which can be any hour. This page lists the days by the Moon's sign at sunrise in New Delhi and says when the sign changes; the app gives the exact times for your own place.
